Earlier this month, probably the biggest laboratory of illegal drugs at the foot of Mt. Arayat in Pampanga was discovered after authorities began a routine inspection on all industrial facilities. The laboratory was initially disguised as a piggery and corn thrasher facility.
The shabu laboratory was reportedly able to produce about 400 kilograms of shabu per day.
Two Chinese nationals who have yet to be caught by the authorities operated the said sizable shabu laboratory. They were identified as Anthony Reyes Chua and Jacky Lee Shi.
The caretaker of the shabu laboratory identified as Hong Wenzheng was already arrested, and is currently in the custody of the Intelligence Branch of the Pampanga Police.
President Duterte visited the impressive shabu laboratory earlier this week, and inspected the spoils of the successful raid made by the members of the police force.
Perhaps, thinking of what a meaningful symbolism it would be, the president expressed his desire to have the government sequester the property, and maybe turn it into a rehabilitation center for illegal drug dependents.
He even thought out loud and shared that if the facility was indeed to be turned into a two-storey rehabilitation center, then the foundations of the structure must be strengthened.
He also made a simple promise by saying that he will definitely look for funds to enable the construction of his proposed rehabilitation center.
“I will find the money, I’ll be sure of it. I can have about P25 to P50 million. It’s going to be a beautiful rehab center.” – President Rodrigo Duterte, in an interview with ABS-CBN News, on his proposed rehab center in place of the mega shabu laboratory in Pampanga.
The rehabilitation center is hoped to be of service to the drug users who surrendered under the PNP’s Oplan Tokhang headed by Chief Ronald ‘Bato’ De La Rosa.
