Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola received the award of being the Best Asia Pacific Star in the 5th Asia Pacific Actors Network (APAN) Star Awards held at Seoul, South Korea, last Sunday, October 2.
Jessy also made history as the first Filipino to ever win such award.
The awarding ceremony took place at the MBC New Building, located at Sangam-dong neighborhood at the Mapo-gu District in Seoul.
In her acceptance speech, Jessy expressed her gratitude to MBC for being recognized as the recipient of the Best Asia Pacific Star.
“Tonight is a celebration of promoting cultural exchange and opening up of new opportunities in Asia. I am extremely proud to be part of this prestigious ceremony. I thank God for this wonderful blessing and I would also like to take the opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude for the invitation to be in Seoul, Korea tonight. To the President of MBC and to everyone here, thank you very much. Lastly, I would like to thank my Filipino fans here. Thank you very much. Jessy previously received recognition earlier this year for being FHM’s No. 1 Sexiest Woman in the Philippines.
She also uploaded several pictures on her Instagram account of her rubbing elbows with several well-known celebrities in the Korean Entertainment industry. She even had her picture taken with Korean superstar Song Joong Ki. She met the actor before the awarding ceremonies began and was able to snap a picture with him.
Song Joong Ki was nominated as Best Actor in a Mini-Series category for his well-loved role as Captain Yoo Si Jin in Descendants of the Sun.
Song Joong Ki is a South Korean actor, model and host. He first rose to fame in the 2010 series Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and further cemented his superstar status because of the massively huge hit 2016 television series Descendants of the Sun where he portrayed the role of Special Forces Captain Yoo Si Jin, and won the hearts of many.
