The Philippines has always been a nation of beauty queens especially with the most recent titles: Miss International 2016 (Kylie Versoza) and Miss Universe 2015 (Pia Wurtzbach). We have ANOTHER crown to add to the list and that is Miss Beauty Doll 2016.
Who knew there was a beauty contest for the best-looking doll, right? Well, it seems that the Philippines have yet again bagged the title of beauty…even if it’s made of plastic. The doll’s name is fit for a queen: Shawnah Bautista Vasquez. Not only does this competition require you to showcase a beautiful doll but you should also give a background story to her.
Vasquez, according to the creators, is 23 years old and hails from Angeles City. To add to the beauty and brains allure, she is a Journalism graduate and a professional model. This talent of writing is portrayed in her biography as she is aptly labeled as a prolific blogger who writes about her work and experiences as a model.
Cholo Ayuyao, the Filipino designer responsible for Ms. Vasquez, thanked his supporters. In a Facebook post, he stated: My inbox and notification [sic.] is so full of your celebratory messages, and im [sic.] touched to know that you did wait for the results no matter how late it was and shared with me the tension of anticipating the winner.
Ayuyao, a costume jewelry and embroidery designer, said that he gave his best effort and gave the doll “the best wardrobe and face up I could muster.”
This competition is nothing short of challenging as it takes precision, creativity, and style to gain the crown. Other winners following Vasquez by order are: Dang Thuy Nam form Vietnam (first runner-up); Denise Marie Torres form Puerto Rico (second runner-up); Cinthya Santos from Dominican Republic (third runner-up); and Isha Narayan Kalpana from India (fourth runner-up).
The competition was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently, Vasquez is “fulfilling her duties” as the winner in the beautiful Thai Capital.
