According to a non-commissioned survey made by the Social Weather Station (SWS) held after President Rodrigo Duterte’s first 100 days as the highest public official in the Philippines, more or less 76%, or 7 out 10 Filipinos are satisfied with the president’s performance.
On the other hand, 13% expressed being undecided, while a meager 11% expressed dissatisfaction.
The SWS survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with more or less 1,200 adults, with 300 of the respondents coming from Metro Manila, and the rest coming from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. It was held from September 24 to 27, 2016.
The respondents were asked whether they are satisfied or dissatisfied with the performance of Rodrigo Duterte as the current president of the Philippines, and how much are they satisfied, or dissatisfied. They were given the following option: very satisfied, somewhat satisfied, undecided, somewhat dissatisfied, very dissatisfied, or have not heard or read anything about Rodrigo Duterte.
When broken down into regions, the survey revealed that 88% of the respondents from Mindanao were satisfied with the president. Meanwhile, 75% of the respondents in Visayas expressed the same satisfaction, followed by 74% in Manila and 70% for the rest of Luzon.
The survey also revealed that 74% of the respondents from urban areas expressed satisfaction, fairly mirrored by 78% of the respondents from rural areas.
When broken down into socio-economic classes, the survey revealed that 76% of those in the D and E socio-economic class were satisfied with the president, as compared with the 69% of those belonging to the combined A, B and C socio-economic classes.
When classified into gender, 79% of the male respondents expressed satisfaction in comparison with only 72% of the female respondents.
The survey also covered different age groups and yielded the following results: 72% expressed satisfaction in the 18 to 24 years old age group; 80% from the 25 to 34 years old age group; 80% from the 25 to 44 years old age group; 74% from the 45 to 54 years old age group; and 70% from the 55 years old and above age group.
This is the second-highest satisfaction rating for a president since former President Fidel V. Ramos in 1992.
